boop FAQ.
Boop is event software that runs over text message: registration and ticketing on the organizer's own domain, curated matchmaking, check-in, and meeting booking for exhibitors, with no app for attendees to download. Here is every question this site answers, for organizers, exhibitors, the app and attendees, in one place.
for event organizers.
do attendees need an app?
No. Nobody downloads anything at your door. Meetings, profile swaps and updates run over text. Guests who want more add the app on top of the same event.
does boop take a cut of ticket sales?
No. Tickets sell through Stripe Connect on your own account. You pay Stripe's processing fee and nothing to us: no per-ticket platform fee, no percentage off the top, no waiting on a payout run.
can i keep my current registration?
Yes. Import the list from Eventbrite or Luma, or bring a CSV from anywhere else, Cvent included, and Boop layers the matchmaking, the texts and check-in on top.
does it work on venue wifi?
It doesn't need to. SMS runs on the attendee's own carrier, RCS where the phone supports it. Nothing depends on venue wifi, and nobody has to download an app.
whose calendar does it use?
Each person connects their own: Google Calendar, or Outlook through Microsoft Graph with delegated sign-in. Invites go out from that calendar and RSVPs sync back. No tenant-wide access.
where does the data go?
There is a public data processing agreement, and a subprocessor list that names each vendor, what it does for the service and which data it sees. You can ask for an export of your attendees at any time.

do attendees need to download an app?
No. The whole flow runs in their native SMS thread, no app, no install. Works on any phone.
what if the venue has bad wifi?
SMS runs on cellular, not wifi. You're never dependent on the venue.
how does this integrate with our crm?
HubSpot syncs automatically as contacts are captured, filling only fields that are blank. Booked meetings appear as a note on that contact's HubSpot timeline. Salesforce and Zoho are a manual push from your integration settings, and each creates Leads. Everything else is a CSV export from the contacts page, on demand.
what events does this work at?
All of them. Trade shows, conferences, dinners, field marketing: if you meet in person and they scan your QR or give you their number, Boop books the meeting.
how is this different from lead retrieval apps?
Lead retrieval captures badge data. Boop books the meeting on the spot: the scan takes your next open time, and the calendar invite lands before they leave the booth.
how does boop know when you're free?
Boop reads your connected calendar and books the first slot that's actually open, then texts the time back with a link to change it if it doesn't suit them. If nothing's open, it offers times instead. What counts as available, and how far ahead it looks, can be customized in settings.

the boop app.
does this work for regular networking, not just trade shows?
Yes. The same QR works at a dinner, a meetup, or a hallway conversation. Someone scans it, hits send, and gets your contact card back as a .vcf they can save. There is no booth requirement anywhere in the flow.
do I need to be an exhibitor to use it?
No. An exhibitor uses Boop to capture leads and book meetings at a booth. An individual uses the same app to hand out a contact card by text and keep every connection, with notes and tags, in one place.
what is free and what is paid?
Free covers QR-to-SMS lead capture, meeting booking by text, Google and Outlook calendar sync, and automated reminders before the meeting. No card to start. The paid tier is a custom event setup: everything in free, plus custom flows, white-glove onboarding, founder access, dedicated support at your event, and a real-time event dashboard. It is quoted per event, so there is no list price to show you here.
how does this work with a whole team?
Each team member gets their own QR. A scan on that QR routes to that person, and a booking goes onto their connected calendar. If the assigned team member has not connected a calendar yet, the booking falls back to a teammate who has, so the meeting still gets made. Routing is a fixed assignment per QR, not round-robin.
who on the team can see which contacts?
Owners and admins see every contact. Each member can be scoped to all contacts, to only their own leads, or to only the events they are assigned to. That scope also governs notes and tags: a team member who cannot see a contact cannot annotate it either.
how do leads get into our CRM?
HubSpot syncs automatically as contacts are captured, filling only fields that are blank. Booked meetings appear as a note on that contact's HubSpot timeline. Salesforce and Zoho are a manual push from your integration settings, and each creates Leads. Everything else is a CSV export from the contacts page, on demand.
do prospects need an app or wifi?
No. They scan, their native texting app opens with a message ready, and they hit send. It runs over the cell network, so the venue wifi is never in the loop.
how do I know when someone scans?
A push notification hits the assigned team member's phone the moment that prospect's text reaches Boop, and again when that lead books a meeting. Leads waiting on a team member's decision collect in a pending queue inside the app.

how does someone get my digital profile?
They scan your QR code and get a text with your profile and a vcf file they can save straight to contacts. No app needed on either side.
what gets shared?
You choose what's in your profile, contact details, company info, resources, booking links. They choose what to send back.
does it work without internet?
Yes. QR codes work offline, and SMS doesn't depend on venue wifi. Your profile arrives as text, not a webpage that has to load.
what happens after they scan?
They get your profile and vcf by text. You get notified and can add context, what they cared about, timing, next steps, right from your phone.
how is this different from a linkedin qr?
Boop sends your profile by text, so it works even when wifi is spotty. You get their number back and can save notes about the conversation right away, no waiting on connection requests.
can i export my contacts?
Yes. Export everything as CSV anytime.
